Wow! That is a tremendous deal. I was going to pull the trigger on Sky Riders/Last Hard Men at some point. Glad I waited. I'll pass on Rio Conchos / Take a Hard Ride to my Dad.

I've got two of the four westerns on DVD, but it's worth the price for the others and to upgrade the two I've got to Blu-ray.

Personally I'm still recovering from the shuriken struck message that Ninja III is released by this company, and what a nice move of them to include a normal DVD of the same film so non Smurfs can see that terminally fun nonsense too. Now all I need is "The master" with Lee van Cleef, and my Ninja collection is complete.

SHOUT AT THE DEVIL has never been on a legitimate Region 1 DVD. Perhaps that why it costs almost as much as the four westerns do. There's no competition from previously released DVDs. Or maybe MGM just charges higher licensing fees than Fox.

Wow! Those Fox titles I thought would have been issued by Twilight Time.

Thank goodness they're not, since the four films would cost us $120 (plus shipping) rather than $15. Which begs the question as to how Shout Factory can make money selling four films on Blu-ray for $15. Are those titles really more popular than, say, a double feature of OUR MAN FLINT / IN LIKE FLINT would be, for which we have to pay $60?

It's amazing that a licensing company, Shout Factory, could offer these 4 films on Blu-ray for only $20, and that Blu-ray.com could further drop the price to $15.

I wonder what the wholesale price is on these.

After pressing, packaging, and licensing, neither 20th-Fox or Shout could be making much profit.

They must be trying to make it up on sales volume, but how much can there be of that, either?

Depending on the quality of the final product, this seems to be an ominous development for companies like Olive and Twilight Time.

I notice that while both Olive and TT have set a $30 price tag on their Blu-rays, Olive is now selling many on their website at $23-24, and you can buy some of the Olive's around the internet for a little over $18 now.

I too am very happy these didn't go the "limited run, way too expensive, tough shit if you only want to rent it via Netflix" Twilight Time route. Kudos to Shout Factory for not gouging when they really could have.

Which begs the question as to how Shout Factory can make money selling four films on Blu-ray for $15.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for using "begs the question" correctly. It's getting more and more rare to see it used properly.

Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has announced that it plans to bring to Blu-ray Ewald André Dupont's The Neanderthal Man (1953) and Edward Nassour and Ismael Rodríguez's The Beast of Hollow Mountain (1956). The two films will appear in a double-feature Blu-ray, which is expected to arrive on the market in early 2014.

I'm sorry but for a one disc edition blu-ray paying 30 $ is insane; Especially when you consider TT just takes what is handed to them (existing transfer, existing score, existing extras) and slaps it on a blu-ray. Many of the specialty labels (Shout, Arrow, ... ) offer Blu-rays around 20 $ that include new extras and own produced featurettes/interviews, artwork and try to be as definitive as possible (often with an extra DVD housing these extras). These labels are not limiting their stock and try to meet actual demand for a title, rather than make it exclusive and give you the impression you should thank them for putting it out in these digital 'hard times'.

Worth it for Rio Conchos alone. And this set does play on region B players.

Shout Factory will bring two classic thrillers to Blu-ray in January: George P. Cosmatos' The Cassandra Crossing (1976), starring Sophia Loren, Burt Lancaster, Ava Gardner, Richard Harris, and Martin Sheen, and Stanley Kramer's The Domino Principle (1977), starring Gene Hackman, Candice Bergen, and Richard Widmark. The double-feature Blu-ray release will be available for purchase on January 7th.

Independent distirbutors Shout Factory have detailed their upcoming Collector's Edition Blu-ray release of director Russell Mulcahy's The Shadow (1994), starring Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Ian McKellen, Peter Boyle, and Andre Gregory. The release will be available for purchase on February 25th.

Cosmatos' Leviathan (1989), starring Peter Weller, Richard Crenna, Amanda Pays, Lisa Eilbacher, Meg Foster, Hector Elizondo, and Eugene Lipinski. The release is expected to arrive on the market in August.
